Imagine Holgate is a project by BrightRail Planning + Design. The project will consider ways to leverage the 2015 opening of the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail line to create a vibrant and sustainable place to live and work, while still preserving those qualities most valued by residents.
BrightRail Planning and Design is Chad Armstrong, Joshua Shaklee, Alex Steinberger, Tara Sulzen, and Michael Weidmann, a group of Masters of Urban Regional Planning (MURP) students at Portland State University. For the final two terms of the MURP program, students form groups and work on community-driven, client-focused workshop projects. Learn more about the MURP program here.
Chad Armstrong is the Research Lead for Brightrail and provides strong support for both market analysis and graphic design. He currently conducts environmental policy research for Portland State University. His academic interests include land use conflicts, public-sector negotiation, and graphic design.
Michael Weidmann is the Market Lead for BrightRail, infusing practical feasibility for future development proposals. His focus is on the connections between land use planning and real estate development, with a particular interest in residential infilll housing. Outside academia, Michael enjoys trying new restaurants, camping, and hiking in the Oregon wilderness.
Joshua Shaklee is the Public Engagement/Production Lead for BrightRail. He brings a
commitment to open and innovative public engagement to the Imagine Holgate project. A background in design and marketing will come into play in Joshua’s role as Production Lead. Joshua enjoys exploring the far reaches of Oregon, stormwatching, and going on owl prowls with his family.
